Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about the IN-TECH registration process, apprenticeship programs and what it means to become a member of Local 134.

    When can I register?

Registration takes place every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at our main campus, 6201 W. 115th Street, Alsip, IL

Can I register for more than one program?

Yes, you can register for the Construction and/or the Communications Programs at the same time.  If you register for more than one program, you will still pay only one $25.00 fee and provide one set of required documents.

If I am accepted, when will school begin?

We begin classes the first Monday of January, April, July, and October.  You will be notified of your placement on our list about six weeks after you complete the registration process.  If you scored well, you will be notified by mail to attend an orientation program a few months before a class starts.  You will also be notified by mail if you were not accepted.  Additional information on future registrations will be offered to you at that time.

How do you decide on the number of apprentices taken into the programs?

The number of apprentices selected for the programs is based on the demand for apprentices in the field.  The more work there is in the electrical construction industry, the more apprentices we will start in the programs.  We will not bring you into our program unless we are confident that we can place you on a job with one of our contractors.

Can you use the documents from my old application?

No, the old registration documents are not available.  You must bring in new documentation at the time of registration.

    How much is the tuition?

There is no tuition.  However, there is a $500.00 fee at the time you accept an offer to begin the program.  In addition, you will have to purchase a set of electrician’s hand tools that cost approximately $600.00 before you are assigned to work.
