RESIDENTIAL WIREMAN – JOURNEYMAN WIREMAN
UPGRADE REQUIREMENTS
In order to upgrade your classification from Residential Wireman to Journeyman Wireman you must meet the following requirements:
A. Complete 8000 on-the-job hours as a Residential Wireman. All hours must be worked under the Local 134 Residential Agreement, and be recorded at E.I.T.
B. Complete the following eight Residential Upgrade Courses:
Print Reading I Fire Alarm
Motor Control I Transformers
Conduit I OSHA
HVAC I Code I
C. If you have completed the Residential Apprenticeship Program you may take any eight of the following courses:
Print Reading I Print Reading II
Motor Control I Motor Control II
Conduit I Conduit II
HVAC I HVAC II
Fire Alarm Process Control I
Transformers PLC I
OSHA 70e Arc Flash
Code I Code II
Solar Photovoltaics/Drives
A certificate of completion from the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trustees for each course will be required.
Once you have completed A and B, you will be designated as a Journeyman Wireman Pending Exam (JWPE).
As a JWPE, you will be allowed to sign Book Three and begin working under the Referral System. You will be required to take and pass the Examining Board Test.
Upon passing the test, you will be upgraded to Journeyman Wireman and be allowed to sign Book One under the Referral System.
